Assignment 1d-Visual Expression (Final artwork)

My final artwork is a watercolour painting. In this assignment, I am doing an artwork which is based on pollution. However, I want to express my feelings on the earth, life and  nature that WE as an individual and society can change for a better future without pollution.

Artwork Title: Pollution- "WE can change the future."

Artist Statement: In this artwork, I want to express awareness in people about the change for a better future; away from pollution if we help maintain a greener environment.

Assignment 1c-Visual Expression (More research & Idea Development (sketches))

After the mindmap, I did a bit of research on pollution and the initiatives to prevent it.
In short, pollution is a way we destroy nature with through things that we use in our daily life. Thus, we have to take precautions in preventing it from becoming worst.

In my artwork, I am going to make a painting (traditional art) which reflect my emotions towards pollution. I will be using watercolours with leaves.

Assignment 1b-Visual Expression (Mindmap)

Topic is chosen. "POLLUTION"

Assignment 1a-Visual Expression (Topic & Research)

This week, we had a consultation on our chosen topic based on current issues and the mindmap itself. In this assignment, we have to create a visual expression (in any form of art with a 10x10inch canvas). We are free to choose any topic of our interest to voice out on.

The topic that I had chosen is "Pollution" which is reflected mainly towards the earth. As we known, pollution is everywhere not only in our country but in other country as well.

Recently, in Batu Ferringhi, waters downstream is contaminated due to illegal dumping of waste products, open burning and mining.

I wanted to express my feelings towards pollution. I wish that someday pollution will grow lesser and if possible no more. I want people to be aware of it because what we do now will affect our future generation.

We are the ones who will change the future.

2nd week (Exercise)

We were introduce to our Assignment 1 which is Visual Expression regarding on any current issue.

Then, our exercise this week is to express an emotion with just a piece of paper. I choose anger because I think it describe me well when I was really angry when I think of the idea a few days ago before we express it in class.
I wrote down a number of ideas but I did not know how to give out my ideas and choose one. This is why I chose the simple one which is scribble on the paper with a red marker.

1st week (Exercise)

Last week, we had a brief lecture on what we are suppose to do for this semester. We will be learning through experimental, expression and exploration. Most of our works will be done based on our "voice". Then we had an exercise on Colours. We were given a piece of paper and choose one colour then list our 50 related things, expects or characteristics that is related to the colour. For example, Red.
Red represents anger, danger, stop, fire, love and many more.

Our group choose "Yellow" colour and some of our related ideas on it is royalty (Malaysia), road signs, sun, happy, light, cheerful, bee, honey and others as well.
Our ideas mostly are not reasonable when we reach 30-45 because our brains could not generate common ideas and makes us think a bit more than we usually do. This is what we are going to do in this semester.

We are going to use our own "voice" which we experienced it in different background to generated ideas which are not common to most people. From here we learn that, "The best ideas does not come from the average ideas". We must look into it more than we usually do.
